Job Description

OVERVIEW
This role requires a committed leader who is passionate about serving the kids and families of Heartwood Church. Experience working with children's ministries, in a paid or volunteer capacity, is required. This person will need to be flexible and creative due to a consistently growing and changing environment. Additionally, this role requires a shepherd's heart, leadership, vision, confidence as a teacher, ability to be a good teammate, and the willingness to learn. This person should demonstrate the spiritual calling, giftedness, and maturity required for a position of ministry leadership within the denomination; among other things, the individual and Heartwood Church must agree that God has called him/her to serve Him in a ministry leadership position within the C&MA, and has equipped him with appropriate gifts, training and skills for such calling; further, the devotion, character, lifestyle, and values of the person who is called to serve in this capacity must demonstrate the reality of his/her commitment to the Lord and His Word. As a staff member, the Heartwood Kids Lead is expected to contribute input and support for the overall ministry of Heartwood Church. The individual should understand and agree that this position is a position of ministerial leadership within the C&MA, and that the position plays an important role in the expression and exercise of the Christian beliefs of the C&MA, and that the position is subject to the "ministerial exception" legal doctrine.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all programming for children, and ensure all activities support the mission of Heartwood Church. Recruit, train, schedule, and support all Heartwood Kids volunteers. Provide supervision (either personally or delegated) of Heartwood Kids ministry during Sunday gatherings. Report on Heartwood Kids activities and needs to the leadership of Heartwood. Ensure curriculum and classroom structure utilizes best practices for all age groups. Communicate with families and provide opportunities for parents to be equipped as the primary disciple-makers of their children. Ensure all activities spaces are safe, clean, in good working order, and stocked with supplies. Participate in various church staff events, and duties as required.
