Job Description

Saint Stephen the Martyr, in Renton, Washington, has an opening for a full-time Pastoral Assistant for Youth Ministry beginning July 1s,t 2026. The youth minister leads the junior and high school parish ministry. We seek a person with a passion for leading youth and their families by accompanying them on a journey to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and full participation in the Church. The candidate should be able to articulate their vision and implementation plan for a robust parish youth ministry. The youth minister will be part of a collaborative team of volunteers and staff that together live out the vision of our parish: Sharing the Transforming Light of Christ.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide a vision for youth ministry aligned with the Catholic Church and the parish vision. Develop and implement activities including, but not limited to, retreats, religious education, socials, recreation/athletic activities, outreach service programs, and worship/adoration opportunities. Recruit and train volunteers as needed. Provide guidance, resources, and curriculum in coordination with the pastor, to help parents engage and provide faith formation to their youth at home. Coordinates and directs a volunteer team for the Confirmation program. Works with the pastor and administrative leaders to develop a budget required to accomplish the ministry vision. An active Catholic who embraces Catholic doctrine and theology. A bachelor's Degree in a related field, a degree in Pastoral Ministry/Theology, or comparable experience in youth ministry or related field. A self-motivated, effective communicator and organizer. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
