Job Description

Cascades Presbyterian Church Contemporary Worship Leader Title:
Contemporary Worship Leader (10 hours/week)
Purpose:
To coordinate, plan, and lead all contemporary music aspects of the 10:15 a.m. Sunday service at Cascades Presbyterian Church and for periodic special services during the liturgical year as directed by the needs of the church and as designated by the session (elder governing body) and the pastor.
Accountability and Experience:
Accountable to the pastor and the session through the Personnel Committee and Worship Arts Elder. Though we are open to someone with a wide array of musical leadership skills, most importantly, this person's life and ministry must demonstrate worship in a way that excites the hearts of others to do the same.
Responsibilities:
Leading worship for the 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship service. Creating a contemporary/alternative worship team of in-house musicians (vocalists, guitarists, pianist, and percussionist). Providing spiritual mentoring and direction to the worship team. Directing contemporary worship team rehearsals at least biweekly to prepare for upcoming worship services and to improve the musicianship of the worship team. Selecting music for the Sunday contemporary worship services taking into consideration the scripture readings and the pastor's preaching series, drawing from a variety of contemporary worship music, hymns, and spirituals. Provides song titles and CCLI numbers to the office administrator by Wednesday at noon. Reviews and ensures accuracy of PowerPoint slides for Sunday's worship service promptly when received from the office administrator. Along with the choir director and accompanist, assists with arranging special music for Sunday during the Summer Worship Season. Responsible to contact his/her own substitute in the event of absence.
Relationships:
Relates to the pastor as head of staff, other staff persons, the Worship Arts Committee, and the session Personnel Committee. Strong collaboration and communication skills are important components of this position.
Evaluation:
Formal performance reviews will be conducted annually by the pastor as the head of staff and the session Personnel Committee. The candidate must also be open to receiving weekly feedback and constructive criticism from the pastor and Worship Arts Committee as a means to improve the overall weekly worship experience.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
