Job Description
St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full time Staff Chaplain who, under the supervision of the Director of Spiritual Care and Mission, the Professional Chaplain functions as one who provides ministry in a healthcare setting to patients, families and staff, making tangible God's grace and presence in the midst of their present circumstance. As a trained professional the Chaplain will office a place of safety, free of judgment, prejudice, and discord. Their role is to journey with others through active listening and affirmation as patients and families share their stories. As deeper issues are revealed it provides an opportunity to help them discover how God has manifested himself to those individuals traveling their own personal and unique path. He/she will assist in integrating the spiritual and emotional issues brought through their current health crisis bringing recognition of the Divine within that situation. The Chaplain encourages those to whom they minister to search for new insights of self and a deeper God consciousness within and about themselves. In addition, the Chaplain's role is presented in a broader dimension in the areas of education and leadership that nurtures the heart and soul of our health care organization. In living out the core values and mission of the Center through spirituality lived out in keeping with God's Word, thoughts and actions that daily offers God's healing presence. The Chaplain shapes and recognizes the needs that address a larger whole creating an environment that embodies a holistic approach to the healing of body, mind and spirit, a cornerstone of St. Mary's Medical Center.
