https://tinyurl.com/yepcbsnews Position Summary The House Lead helps maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and supportive living environment for young adults ages 18-24 participating in Stable Futures. Stable Futures is a workforce and education housing program that helps young adults progress toward college or career training, employment, financial stability, permanent housing, and independent adulthood. The House Lead provides on-site supervision, reinforces program expectations, responds to resident needs, documents incidents, and helps participants practice the everyday habits required to become self-sufficient. This is a hands-on position for someone who can build positive relationships with young adults while maintaining strong professional boundaries and consistent accountability. The House Lead must be calm under pressure, dependable, observant, fair, and comfortable addressing challenging behavior. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Resident Supervision and Support  Provide on-site supervision during assigned evening, overnight, weekend, holiday, or emergency shifts.  Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the residence.  Conduct regular walkthroughs of bedrooms, common areas, entrances, and surrounding property.  Help residents follow daily schedules and prepare for work, school, training, appointments, and program activities.  Provide appropriate guidance, encouragement, and problem-solving support.  Promote healthy communication, personal responsibility, conflict resolution, and independent-living skills.  Maintain professional boundaries and treat every participant with dignity and respect. Program Accountability  Reinforce Stable Futures policies, procedures, curfews, quiet hours, visitor rules, and community-living expectations.  Monitor completion of assigned chores and the cleanliness of bedrooms and common areas.  Support scheduled room inspections and document concerns requiring follow-up.  Confirm that residents follow required arrival, departure, and sign-in procedures.  Remind residents about mandatory meetings, coaching sessions, coursework, progress reports, and other program responsibilities.  Address rule violations promptly, consistently, and without unnecessary confrontation.  Report patterns of noncompliance to program leadership.  Follow established procedures without creating unauthorized rules, consequences, or exceptions. Safety and Crisis Response  Protect the safety and well-being of residents, staff, visitors, and the facility.  Respond appropriately to conflicts, behavioral incidents, medical concerns, suspected substance use, unauthorized visitors, missing residents, and other emergencies.  Use verbal de-escalation and trauma-informed practices whenever possible.  Contact supervisors, emergency services, or other designated resources when required.  Complete safety checks and confirm that doors, windows, gates, alarms, and common areas are properly secured.  Follow mandated-reporting, emergency-response, confidentiality, and incident- notification requirements.  Never use physical intervention unless legally permitted, properly trained, and required to prevent immediate harm. Documentation and Communication  Complete accurate shift notes, communication logs, attendance records, and incident reports before the end of each shift.  Document facts objectively, including the time, location, people involved, actions taken, and required follow-up.  Provide clear shift-transition information to the next staff member.  Immediately report serious safety concerns, suspected abuse, threats, violence, property damage, or major policy violations.  Maintain confidentiality regarding participant information.  Communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, supervisors, service providers, and emergency personnel. Facility and Operational Support  Help maintain a clean, organized, secure, and welcoming residential environment.  Identify and report maintenance, sanitation, pest-control, supply, and safety concerns.  Assist with room preparation, resident move-ins, room changes, and program exits.  Monitor shared supplies and communicate restocking needs.  Support meal coordination and other basic residential operations when assigned.  Attend staff meetings, training sessions, case conferences, and house meetings as required.  Complete additional duties that reasonably support resident safety and program operations. Required Qualifications  High school diploma or equivalent.  At least one year of experience working with young adults, housing programs, workforce programs, education programs, behavioral health services, youth development, residential services, or a related field.  Ability to supervise young adults with fairness, confidence, patience, and consistency.  Strong communication, documentation, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.  Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during stressful situations.  Understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and trauma-informed care.  Ability to follow established policies and accept supervision and feedback.  Basic ability to use email, mobile applications, electronic forms, and workplace communication systems.  Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, or on-call hours when scheduled.  Ability to pass all legally permitted background and employment screenings required for the position. Preferred Qualifications  Associate degree or higher in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, education, human services, or a related field.  Experience in transitional-age youth services, supportive housing, residential care, foster-youth services, reentry programs, workforce development, or community-based organizations.  Training in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, crisis prevention, restorative practices, first aid, CPR, or mental-health first aid.  Knowledge of Oakland and Alameda County youth, housing, education, workforce, and behavioral-health resources.  Experience supporting young adults from diverse cultural, racial, economic, and lived-experience backgrounds.  Valid California driver's license and access to reliable transportation. Scheduling may vary according to program needs. As-needed employees are not guaranteed a minimum number of weekly hours and must confirm their availability before accepting assigned shifts. Employees must remain awake, alert, and actively engaged throughout all scheduled working hours unless the position is specifically designated as a permitted sleep shift. Physical and Environmental Requirements The House Lead must be able to:  Walk throughout the residence and surrounding property.  Stand, sit, bend, and climb stairs during a shift.  Respond promptly to incidents occurring in different areas of the facility.  Lift and carry program supplies weighing up to approximately 25 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when required.  Work in a shared residential environment where conflicts, noise, emergencies, or emotionally stressful situations may occasionally occur.
