ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY SUMMARY
: Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director (AD), the Community Development Coordinator (CDC) is a professional staff member. The individual is responsible for large scale apartment complex programming, facilitating connections with on campus programming, and for assisting the overall student staff in creating community.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
(this is just a small sampling of work variety): Programming and Advising Coordinates and supervises large scale programming efforts for CPPE Student Housing properties including motivating staff in their programming efforts, attending programs, and managing program budgets. Facilitates special programs as needed/requested. Plans and leads one large-scale program a semester at each CPPE Student Housing property. Assists Area Coordinators (AC) with resident advising (both academic and personal), counseling, mediation, and education of residents and staff. Assists Student Leaders in organizing, carrying out, and evaluating effective programs for CPPE Student Housing property residents in order to better meet their needs. Maintain the Community Garden at the University Village and manage all administration as necessary. Staff Supervision Responsible for the supervision of Graduate Coordinators and the Community Development Team (CDT). Assists with the indirect supervision of the Resident Advisor (RA) team. Develops goals with the students that you work with to be used for planning, direction, and evaluation of all CDT programming. Offers feedback on student staff job performance from staff and residents. Serve in the supervisor rotation for supervising summer staff. Facility Ownership Supervises Health & Safety Inspections with RAs and supervisors of all resident spaces, once per term. Conducts weekly walk-throughs of the appropriate areas (Facilities Use Reservation areas/community spaces). Follows-up when necessary, on maintenance and custodial issues. Manages Facilities Use Reservation System; approves or denies Facilities Use Request Forms, and informs residents of policies. Counseling and Crisis Management Serves in a rotation of twenty-four hour on-call duty, including participation in weekend and holiday duty (able to respond in a reasonable amount of time). Duties include ensuring all CPPE Student Housing property is secured daily, responding to crisis situations, logging and updating the team on issues dealt with while on duty, and serving as a resource for the RA staff. This includes responding to all CPPE Student Housing properties, via employee's personal vehicle or a Foundation vehicle. Responds to crisis situations and offers immediate support and resources to students involved at all CPPE Student Housing properties. Serves as responder and Evacuation Coordinator for the CPPE Student Housing properties as part of the Cal Poly Pomona emergency response team. Updates team in a timely manner of situations that arise and emails a duty report the following morning of the duty. Administration Performs routine CPPE Student Housing functions accurately and on time, including check-in, check-out, transfers, and assisting in coordinating damage charges for check out, supervising RA duty log completion and duty changes, and updating publications. Assists in the management and oversight of the large-scale programming Residential Education budget. Maintain full-time work schedule, which will include evening/weekend work. Participates as a member on the Residential Experience Survey committee. Attends all meetings as required. Present ongoing staff development sessions on classroom knowledge, applying theory to practice. Collaborate with other departments and offices on campus. Training Creates, plans, implements, and presents at Fall and ongoing Student Leader training sessions in conjunction with other members of the Residential Education professional and paraprofessional staff. Serves on the Fall Student Leader Training Committee. Student Development Leads the development of the Community Development Team. Assists ACs and professional staff with the development of the RA staff. Acts as a referral agent to other university resources. Consults with staff on all student and staff concerns. Provides regular feedback and monitors performance. Student Conduct Assists the AD with the application of the CPPE Student Housing conduct review and restorative justice process. Maintains confidential records and accurately completes the incidents database in a timely manner. Always respects and maintains student and staff confidentiality, except in cases that may be dangerous to individuals and/or the greater community. Ability to adhere to regular work schedule which will include nights and weekends. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree or 2-3 years equivalent experience required. Master's degree in student affairs/student development/higher education or related field preferred. Demonstrated ability in all aspects of residence life programs, development of policies and programs, enhancement of quality of living and student services. Strong interpersonal skills.
