Shifts Requirements of Dept. of Social Services - Community Care Licensing and Regional Center Must be able to obtain and maintain Department of Justice Criminal Record Clearance (Calif. Tit.22, Div.6, Sec80019) and FBI Clearance. Must have Health Clearance from physicians to include Tuberculosis Testing. Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and written in English. Must be able to obtain and maintain current First Aid/ CPR/AED certification every 2 years. Must have and maintain a clean DMV record. Must have and maintain a current California's Drivers' License to transport consumers. Must have five (5) years licensed driving experience with 0 points on driving record. Must be a mandated consumer abuse reporter. Must be able to successfully complete and pass 70 hours of training (35 hr per week year x two) for the DSP certificate. The (DSP) Residential Care Worker provides care, training and supervision of developmentally disabled persons in a residential setting. The care worker insures the health and safety of the consumer both in the facility and in the community when they are supervising.
DUTIES INCLUDE
(But not limited to the following) Training consumers in the area hygiene skills to include: bathing, tooth brushing, washing hair, dressing. Training consumers in the area of independent living skills to include: bedroom maintenance, banking, purchasing, laundry, telephone usage, food preparation, cooking. Follow through on behavioral programs. Documentation of the Individual Program Plan objectives on on-going notes sheets, prepare semi-annual reports, trip slips, monthly meet charts, yearly resident inventory reports and all written work assigned. Assist in the dining room and assist/supervise consumers with eating issues. Communicate with all staff regarding the needs of the consumer to include LVN, health care, Kitchen, day program, other residential staff including lead, supervisor, and administrator. Assist with the self-administration of each residents medication and treatments.
COMMUNITY TRAINING SKILLS TO INCLUDE
Community safety, banking, purchasing of food, personal items, recreation and leisure, appropriate behavior in the community i.e. restaurants, public transportation. Training and follow through in the area of communication skills.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Must attend CEU classes (inservices / workshops) for a total of 20 units per year. Must attend monthly meeting and on-the job training in required subjects Assist in two-man transfer to wheelchair clients and/or consumers. To be physically capable of performing the job duties in which may include some heavy lifting. (Up to 50 lbs) Drivers of ranch vehicles must be 21 years and older. Must have five (5) years licensed driving experience. Must be able to perform tasks that involve repetitive motion. Must be able to work in direct contact with persons who have developmental disabilities. Perform any duties as assigned by supervisor, Director, or Executive Director.
