The Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky seeks qualified candidates for the position of Overnight Desk Clerk. The Gatton Academy is a public residential STEM program established and funded by the Kentucky legislature. It is located on the campus of Western Kentucky University. Students complete their last two years of high school in the program while earning at least 60 hours of college credit. This is a 10-month part-time position with a possible extension into the summer that reports to the Assistant Director of Residential Life. Gatton staff are employees of WKU.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs. Monitor the residential lobby and desk between the hours of 11:00pm to 7:00am, remaining awake and alert for the duration of the shift (60%) Perform rounds of Gatton Academy common spaces every two hours (15%) Welcome and assist students, family members, and visitors of The Gatton Academy (5%) Monitors all individuals entering and exiting the building, including students checking into and out of the program and checking IDs of visitors signing out students, all while providing excellent customer service (5%) Answers the residential phone, directs calls and messages to Gatton Academy staff, corresponds with various stakeholders via email and telephone Follow established response plans in the event of emergency or concerning activity (5%) Follow established response plans in the event of emergency or concerning activity (5%) Clerical support (file preparation, sorting, researching, etc.) and other duties as assigned (5%)
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Customer service experience Availability for WKU's Fall and Spring semesters and a five-week Summer Camp Ability to work a rotating schedule, including weekdays and every other weekend
