Primary Responsibility:
Provides supportive services to residents and staff of a 27-bed shelter for domestic violence victims and their children. This position is 9:00 am - 6:00 pm every other weekend.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides supportive services to residents (daily living skills, transportation, babysitting daily while residents attend groups and appointments, information and referrals, cooking and coordinating activities, cleaning, and documentation of services).
- Communicates shelter rights and responsibilities to residents.
- Encourages cooperative living, peer support, and residents' participation in shelter programming.
- Models and promotes positive, nurturing interactions between adults and children in the shelter.
- Performs and models' facility maintenance to ensure the ongoing cleanliness of apartments and common spaces, documenting needed repairs and maintaining shelter security.
- Complete cleaning duties assigned to shift. Adhere to agency policies. Maintains professional boundaries with shelter residents.
- Performs clerical duties as needed.
- Maintains client records and service reports as well as other agency reports to meet agency standards and requirements.
- Answers 24-hour crisis line during shift.
- Attends meetings as requested.
- Provide transportation for residents when necessary.
- Assists in achieving the organization's annual goals and objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- PC proficiency in a Microsoft environment including use of all components of Microsoft Office as well as Internet proficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with domestic violence victims and children.
- Access to an automobile, clear DMV record, valid driver's license, and proof of current auto insurance.
- Certified or ability to become certified in adult/pediatric CPR, AED, and first aid.
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
