The Sandhill Center is located about 30 minutes south of the Albuquerque airport in a rural New Mexico valley. Our charming southwestern ranch homes provide living space for as many as thirty-two boys and girls. The peaceful, rural setting offers an ideal environment in which to foster a child's physical, emotional and behavioral health. These classic New Mexican properties include horse stables, riding arena, basketball courts, a tennis court, and a swimming pool.

Residential Youth Mentors :

Teach daily living skills; Document client progress; Supervise and organize activities; Ensure a safe and clean living environment; Assist the school program (Del Rio Academy) as needed; Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings; Enjoy activities with children such as going on hikes, gardening, and animal care;

About Sandhill:

Sandhill Center is an innovative, nationally-recognized residential program for children between the ages of 8 and 13 who are experiencing significant difficulties in functioning at home, in school, or in the community. Most of our residents can't adequately regulate their emotional or mental states, and therefore present with behavioral challenges. Our goal as treatment providers is to create an environment in which care and nurture are hard to resist. Our treatment model encourages the development of close personal relationships, while confronting behaviors that interfere with that closeness. We look to recent brain research to help us create powerful, focused intervention strategies. We are located in Los Lunas, a rural community about 20 miles south of Albuquerque, NM. The facility is located in a homelike setting, with horses and two riding arenas, dogs, a swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, etc.
