Chesapeake, VA Job Details Full-time $14.50 - $16.00 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Career development plan Opportunities for advancement Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Emergency response procedures Chauffeur driving Full Job Description The Empowerment Center is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. DSPs provide direct support to adults in a residential setting by assisting with daily living activities, community engagement, transportation, household responsibilities, and personal goal development. Our DSPs play a critical role in empowering individuals to live independently, safely, and with dignity while promoting personal growth and community inclusion. Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities and independent living skills. Provide supervision and support within a residential setting. Prepare meals and assist with meal planning. Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment. Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, shopping trips, employment, and recreational outings. Support participation in community events and social activities. Monitor health, safety, and overall well-being of residents. Administer medications as trained and authorized. Complete required documentation, daily notes, and incident reports accurately and timely. Follow individualized service plans and agency policies. Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Valid Driver's License required. Clean driving record required. Reliable transportation. Ability to pass background checks. CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, or behavioral health needs preferred. Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist individuals as needed.
