Victory Family Services provides a Transitional Housing Placement Program (THPP) for non-minor dependents who are transitioning out of the Foster Care system. The Life Coach reports to the Program Administrator and provides services to Non-Minor Dependents (CLIENT) foster youth which will assist individuals in gaining access to needed medical, social, housing, educational, employment, and other THP services directed by the Program Administrator The position requires flexible work hours including evening and weekend availability as needed. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Primary Duties A position may not be assigned all the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all the duties that may be assigned. Maintain primary supervision and support of residential clients at remote sites which includes regular, timely interaction. Inspection of client living facilities for safety and compliance with lease and program terms. Set and contribute to a safe, dignified, orderly atmosphere by implementing program rules, policies, and procedures with clients. Collaborate with Social Worker for Monthly and Quarterly reports. Collaborate with Social Worker for Needs & Service plan. Maintain thorough and accurate records, files, and correspondence. Complete the necessary documentation in a timely, accurate, and legible manner. Attend meetings and events as assigned. Identify mental health issues as expressed by youth and provide appropriate referrals. Use a strengths-based approach to assist in implementing and evaluating individualized treatment plans. Partner with clients in improving independent living skills (Cooking, budgeting, etc.) Partner with clients in identifying and pursuing educational and/or vocational goals. Partner with clients in creating safe and healthy living conditions, managing time and balancing life responsibilities. Partner with clients to develop, enhance and maintain relationships with permanent support people. Provide transportation for clients, as necessary. Complete monthly budgets with clients. Partner with parenting and pregnant youth in accessing resources to help them to become a successful parent, including but not limited to Mommy and Me classes, Parenting classes, etc. Assist clients in moving in; and moving out of the program. Complete monthly reports for tracking and statistical purposes Assist with obtaining food baskets. Refer participants for CalFresh benefits. Assist participant in getting needed documentation, including, but not limited to, social security card, California Identification Card, Driver's License, and Birth Certificate Schedule and assist with transportation needs. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Child and Adolescent Development or related field One year working with at risk youth in a social service setting is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. Knowledge of the foster care system is preferred. Knowledge of the obstacles current and former foster youth face is preferred. Knowledge of child development and youth development frameworks is preferred. Knowledge of the symptoms and effects of substance use is preferred. Ability to manage time effectively. Ability to effectively work with people from diverse ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Knowledge of the cycle of Domestic Violence is preferred. Knowledge of Parenting skills and bonding techniques is preferred. Knowledge of youth-friendly community resources and public welfare system Ability to establish and maintain rapport with youth and families, as well as other permanent support people and professionals.
