Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated, patient, innovative College Support Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in supporting students that are transitioning into college or already in college with developmental and intellectual disabilities and other barriers to academic success, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning differences. The College Support Coordinator will provide guidance, skill-building, advocacy and ongoing support to ensure students successfully navigate their college experience and achieve their ultimate desire of attaining their degree. This position requires a strong understanding of academic support services, individualized education planning, and strategies for fostering student independence and success. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one academic support. Conduct intake assessments to understand each student's academic needs, goals, and support requirements. Develop personalized support plans that align with the student's educational goals and career aspirations. Provide training and coaching in areas such as time management, study skills, organization, self-advocacy, and stress management. Mentor students throughout their college journey, offering encouragement, accountability, and problem-solving strategies. Apply for financial aids such as Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FASA) & The California Dream Act Application (CADAA) Collaborate with professors, disability services, and academic advisors to ensure appropriate accommodations and supports are in place. Monitor academic progress, track milestones, and maintain accurate records of student support activities. Connect students with on-campus and community resources, including tutoring, counseling, and career development services. Facilitate workshops or small group sessions on academic readiness, social integration, and college success skills. Advocate for student needs while encouraging independence, self-confidence, and long-term success strategies. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required (Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field).
- Experience working with college students or young adults with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, or learning differences is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of higher education systems, disability accommodations, and strategies for academic success.
- Excellent soft skills , including:
- Empathy and patience when supporting students with diverse needs.
- Strong communication (verbal, written, and active listening).
- Adaptability and problem-solving in dynamic academic settings.
- Collaboration and teamwork with faculty, families, and support staff.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple student plans and progress.
- Computer savvy - ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, student information systems, and virtual learning platforms.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to campuses and community locations as needed.
- Clean background record in accordance with state and organizational policies.
- A genuine passion for empowering students to reach their educational and career goals.
