POSITION SUMMARY
The FamilySource Center Resource/Outreach Worker supports the FamilySource Center (FSC) by connecting community members with available programs, services, and resources. This position conducts outreach within designated service areas, promotes FSC services, develops relationships with community members and organizations, and supports outreach events and activities. The Resource/Outreach Worker will regularly engage with diverse community members in both community and organizational settings and may work in the field as needed. The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, organized, and comfortable communicating with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct outreach and engagement activities within the FSC's designated service areas. Promote and provide information about FamilySource Center programs, services, and resources. Build and maintain positive working relationships with community members, schools, organizations, businesses, and other community partners. Engage with community members through in-person outreach, phone calls, email, messaging, presentations, and other appropriate outreach methods. Share information about available community resources and assist individuals with connecting to appropriate FSC services or referral resources. Participate in the planning and coordination of outreach events, workshops, community activities, and mobilization efforts. Support regular community engagement activities designed to increase awareness of FSC services. Participate in the development and implementation of outreach strategies and activities. Conduct presentations and provide program information to community groups, organizations, and other audiences as appropriate. Document outreach contacts, activities, referrals, and other required information accurately and in a timely manner using designated data collection systems. Maintain professional and respectful communication with community members and partner organizations. Attend meetings, trainings, and community events as assigned. Represent Toberman Neighborhood Center and the FamilySource Center in a professional manner. Work in the field and at community locations as needed to support outreach activities. Assist with other Toberman Neighborhood Center programs, activities, and events as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in community outreach, customer service, community engagement, human services, or a related field preferred. Experience working with diverse communities and individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Comfortable engaging with community members through in-person, telephone, email, and other forms of outreach. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Comfortable speaking to individuals and groups and providing presentations or program information. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to organize activities, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on assigned responsibilities. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with staff and community partners. Professional, dependable, and respectful approach to working with community members. Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality and follow applicable organizational policies and procedures. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
MATH ABILITY
Basic math skills sufficient to perform routine job-related tasks.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer proficiency required, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet-based systems, and other software or data-entry platforms used by the organization.
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to communicate professionally with community members, staff, and partner organizations. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred. Ability to understand and follow organizational requirements related to confidentiality, privacy, and mandated reporting, as applicable to the position.
