Job Description

This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Health and Human Services Agency. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. Current vacancy is with the Health and Human Services Agency, located in Visalia. The anticipated life of the list is six months. Spanish bilingual designated positions are entitled to an additional $.63 (cents) per hour. A Spanish proficiency exam will be required. Applicants must be fluent in the ability to read, write and speak in the Spanish language as well as in English. Interview clients at home, over the telephone, or in the office to assess health, mental health and/or social services needs. May assist professional staff with the less complex aspects of case management. Make referrals to community resources and assist clients in accessing services. Prepare case narratives; maintain manual and electronic case records. Develop public information and education materials for use by clients. For a full list of duties please click here . Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth(12 th ) grade.
Experience:
None Knowledge of:
Office procedures and practices to include computer usage. Interviewing and information gathering methods and techniques. Basic math and record keeping methods and techniques.
Skill/Ability to:
Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers. Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment. Learn and integrate parenting assessment into supervised visitation services for families. Prepare or complete various forms, reports, records, correspondence and other documents. Conduct an interview in order to gather information and tactfully handle sensitive and difficult situation. Learn to evaluate assessment results in order to identify areas of notable improvement and development of objective recommendations. Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Communicate concisely and effectively both orally and in writing. Organize and maintain work assignments including detailed information on individual cases. Write clear, and concise reports, case narratives, and other correspondence. Input and retrieve data from computerized tracking systems. Maintain confidentiality of all information and materials. Speak, read, and write Spanish may be required.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license. Conditions of Employment Candidates selected may be required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Additionally, a background investigation may also be conducted, which may include a re-investigation every 10 years for some positions. An Employment Eligibility Verification using E-Verify may be required on the first day of employment for some positions. Some job classes may also require a physical exam.
