Job Description
•This position is to support individuals in Fremont, Custer, Chaffee, and Park counties. All applicants will be required to commute to the surrounding areas
•The Peer Recovery Coach supports and guides individuals to enhance their life through multiple pathways to recovery, leveraging their own lived experience. They help individuals navigate the recovery process, find resources, and achieve their goals by sharing personal stories and providing encouragement. The PRC serves as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals engaged in the Peer Recovery Program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides direct ongoing coaching to assigned individuals on a regular basis through face-to-face, phone, and/or virtual sessions. Through peer-to-peer support, share personal experiences to inspire and motivate individuals in recovery. Engages in ongoing Wellness Planning utilizing the SMART goal template with participants on a regular basis, while encouraging self-directed care. Provides coaching to strengthen participants' foundations in home, health, community, and purpose. Helps participants navigate the recovery process, access resources, and address barriers to recovery through advocacy and support. Refer participants to appropriate resources including but not limited to financial, housing, transportation, employment, and nutrition. Utilizes motivational interviewing skills to support participant plan management. Provides Telephone Recovery Support (TRS) for assigned Recoverees by calling individuals to check-in on their overall wellness and connect them to the resources they need to achieve and maintain their recovery. Assists with Intro to Coaching programming, as needed. Demonstrates an all-inclusive approach to multiple pathways to recovery, highlighting a variety of approaches, including but not limited to clinical treatments, peer support, faith-based support, and holistic practices; and that individuals can combine these methods. Supports and advocates for an approach to recovery that is a personalized journey and there is no one-size-fits-all solution Is aware and knowledgeable of all SRC's mutual aid groups and training offerings. Articulates core components and benefits of program offerings. Provides coaching, shadowing and training for new volunteers, interns and staff coaches. Advocates for participants in the community (i.e. court, probation, therapist, legal counsel, recovery residences, case managers), per supervisor approval. Actively seeks feedback to address and improve personal biases. Supports SRC outreach initiatives/events as requested. Facilitates Support Groups as requested Refers Family members and loved ones to SRC Family Advocate. Refers CRAFT to families of Recoverees, ensuring they receive the necessary support to navigate complex systems and a variety of resources in support of their loved one. Facilitate timely referrals to community organizations and resources, as needed. Effectively explains data collection procedures to participants for established metrics and outcomes. Consistently enters data and outcomes tracking in SRC database including, but not limited to: 1) Regular Brief-Check-ins as described by
SRC SOP, 2
) Recovery Capital Assessments as recommended & on schedule, 3) Engagement Logs, 4) Completes a Recovery Management Plan for all participants and engages Recoveree's in regular follow-ups. Ensures assigned paperwork is completed and maintained in accordance with SRC policies and funding sources. Documents referrals in a timely manner. Works cooperatively and effectively with personnel of assigned location. Participates in ongoing recovery coach training/education, professional development, performance support and attends all assigned meetings as required. Will support front office staff as needed, to include answering the phone or sitting at the front desk. Participates in quarterly goal setting with supervisor. All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or graduate equivalent degree required. Certificate of completion of the Peer Coach Academy within 1 month after hire.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a person with lived experience with substance use disorder. Must have continuous sustained recovery of two years or more. Must have reliable transportation and a valid drivers license. Demonstrates an awareness of substance use disorder (SUD) topics including, but not limited to harm reduction, naloxone training, community resources, and disease prevention. Demonstrates personal self-care. Demonstrates interpersonal skills including, but not limited to distress tolerance, leadership style, self-confidence, receptive to feedback, and positive attitude. Demonstrates time management skills, including but not limited to being on time for all scheduled appointments, utilizing the Outlook calendar for scheduling, planning, remaining productive, and communicating with supervisor in advance for intended schedule. Ability to be a good steward of the organization. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must possess knowledge and understanding of Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, Trauma Informed Services and Motivational Interviewing. Ability to adjust hours of work based on SRC's and community needs. Performs job duties and responsibilities in a professional manner at all times and complies with the Employee Handbook, the Guiding Principles (policies and procedures), the Code of Ethics standards and agency norms established for the profession as set forth by Serenity Recovery Connection.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
High comfortability with computer-based programs, enters and retrieves data utilizing SRC's computer system application, printers or other office equipment, ZOOM and telephone systems. Must have reliable and registered personal transportation and valid Driver license/insurance if travel between work sites is required.
