Peer Recovery Coach SafeSide Recovery Denver, CO Job Details Part-time | Full-time $22.00 - $24.50 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Professional development assistance Retirement plan Qualifications Case documentation in social services Active listening Outdoor work experience Driver's License Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders Full Job Description Peer Recovery Coach -
Community Outreach Location:
Denver metro area | In person at community partner sites
Schedule:
Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week Base pay: $22.00-$24.50 per hour, depending on experience and role SafeSide Recovery is looking for a peer coach to work primarily in outreach. You'll meet people at day shelters and community partner sites in Denver, Arvada, Lakewood, and Broomfield, with occasional street outreach. Our coaches use their lived experience to build trust with people navigating substance use, homelessness, mental health challenges, or reentry after incarceration. Some people are ready to ask for help right away; others need to see a familiar face a few times before they're ready to talk. We value both the first conversation and the follow-through that comes after it. We take a No Wrong Door approach: when someone comes to us for help, we listen to what they need and help them find a next step, whether that service is through SafeSide or another organization. A referral alone is not always enough. Our coaches help people navigate resources, make connections, and follow up when barriers get in the way. What you'll do Provide one-on-one peer support at day shelters, food banks, and other community locations. Build consistent, respectful relationships with people who may be hesitant to engage with services. Help people identify their own goals and provide resource navigation for treatment, recovery supports, housing, benefits, and other community services. Make referrals and warm connections, then follow up to see whether the person was able to access the help they needed. Help people work through practical barriers and stay connected during transitions between services. Help people understand SafeSide's available services and, when appropriate, prepare for an assessment with a clinician. Coordinate with partner-site staff, clinicians, and other SafeSide team members while respecting client choice and confidentiality. Facilitate recovery-focused groups or activities when assigned. Keep track of conversations, commitments, and next steps; complete clear, accurate service notes on time using our electronic record system. Participate in occasional street outreach, including work outdoors. What we're looking for Lived experience in recovery and the ability to use that experience thoughtfully in a professional peer support role. Colorado peer support certification. Experience supporting people affected by substance use, homelessness, mental health challenges, or justice system involvement. Strong listening skills, sound boundaries, and a respectful approach with people from different backgrounds.
Strong organization and follow-through:
you keep track of the people you're helping, do what you say you'll do, and communicate when plans change. Ability to manage your time across community sites and keep up with documentation. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between work locations. Experienced applicants may be considered for a Peer Coach Lead role. People with criminal records are encouraged to apply.
