Job Description

Hope House and MVA Behavioral Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Aide to join our residential treatment team. This position is for a 2nd shift and weekends . There may be opportunity for other shifts if you are a peer recovery coach. The ideal candidate is a person in long-term recovery who is CCAR Certified and passionate about empowering others on their recovery journey. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by offering lived experience, support, and mentorship within a structured, therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Resident Aide Duties:
Provide day-to-day supervision and support to residents in our treatment facility. Monitor the safety and well-being of residents and ensure adherence to house rules. Assist with medication supervision, meal preparation, and daily living activities. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the facility. Support crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts under clinical guidance. Document shift activities, incidents, and resident progress per policy.
Peer Recovery Coaching & Facilitation:
Build trusting, supportive relationships with residents as a peer mentor. Lead or co-facilitate peer-led recovery groups and workshops. Offer individual peer coaching sessions when clinically appropriate and assigned. Help residents identify personal recovery goals and navigate recovery pathways. Support client engagement in external recovery resources (AA, NA, SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, etc.). Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and supervisory staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
Required for
Peer Recovery Coach:
Active CCAR Recovery Coach Academy Certification or equivalent peer recovery credential recognized by the State of Michigan and lived experience in recovery from a substance use disorder, with a minimum of 1 year in recovery preferred. Must be able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ethical standards. High School Diploma or GED required; additional training in behavioral health or human services is a plus. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Not all charges are disqualifiers. Type of offense and time since conviction matter. We are felony friendly and are willing to work with people, however, we must follow federal law and Medicaid guidelines when making hiring decisions. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as needed as part of our 24/7 coverage. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Residential setting with rotating shifts, primarily evenings and weekends. Must be able to remain awake and alert during assigned shifts. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand or walk for extended periods, and manage household tasks.
