Job Summary:
As a Peer Recovery Coach, you will play a key role in fostering a recovery-oriented culture within the department. You will support and guide peers through lived-experience-informed recovery practices, collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, and provide high-quality peer recovery services in a person-centered environment. This role emphasizes empowerment, engagement, and modeling of recovery principles to support individuals in achieving and maintaining recovery goals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Model and promote the ethical values, mission, and vision of Biomed by delivering peer recovery-based case management services to the patient population. Actively participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, collaborating with clients, clinical staff, and medical providers to develop and support individualized treatment plans. Work collaboratively with patients to develop comprehensive, person-centered treatment goals and objectives. Support a total systems approach by encouraging appropriate involvement of family members, employers, and other identified stakeholders. Provide case management services to patients in both individual and group settings, offering emotional, informational, instrumental, and affiliation support as part of recovery engagement. Deliver crisis intervention services as needed and monitor ongoing patient participation and compliance with program expectations. Participate in weekly individual supervision meetings with an immediate supervisor to review cases, receive coaching, and support professional growth. Actively maintain participation in a personal recovery program (e.g., 12-step, faith-based/spiritual, or other approved recovery pathway), modeling recovery principles. Engage in ongoing internal and external training opportunities to maintain current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in peer recovery and behavioral health services. Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations and patient care.
Skills and Requirements:
Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, accurate patient health assessment skills, and effective problem-solving abilities Demonstrate a high level of diligence with strong planning and organizational skills Consistently maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality in accordance with ethical and regulatory standards Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respectful interaction with diverse populations Effectively manage high-stress or emotionally charged situations Adapt well in a fast-paced behavioral health and clinical environment Is proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with EMR/EHR systems or related clinical software Handle sensitive patient information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Must maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and submit proof of current auto insurance with at least the minimum required liability coverage.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Certified Peer Recovery Mentor (CPRM) through Michigan Certified Board for Addition Professionals (MCBAP). Current CPR certification
