Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The SACC Behavioral Support Coordinator is an integral member of the School-Age Child Care (SACC) team and is responsible for supporting the social-emotional health, behavioral development, and overall well-being of youth ages 5-12 participating in Boys & Girls Club of the Bellport Area programs. The Coordinator leads the implementation and ongoing development of the Club's social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and behavioral support practices within the SACC program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Coordinator collaborates with the SACC Director, program staff, families, school personnel, and other professionals to identify youth needs, develop appropriate supports, and strengthen staff capacity to respond effectively to behavioral and social-emotional needs. This position is embedded within the daily SACC program and maintains an active presence with youth and staff. The SACC Behavioral Support Coordinator also serves as the Director on Site when the SACC Director is not present and supports safe, compliant, and effective program operations during those periods.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Social-Emotional Learning & Youth Development- Lead the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of evidence-based Boys & Girls Club social-emotional learning curriculum and related programming within SACC.
- Develop a consistent structure for incorporating SEL activities into daily and weekly program schedules.
- Facilitate developmentally appropriate individual and small-group activities addressing self-regulation, coping skills, problem-solving, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, communication, and decision-making.
- Help youth develop the skills necessary to successfully participate in the out-of-school-time environment.
- Promote positive youth development, restorative practices, relationship building, and trauma-responsive approaches throughout the SACC program.
- Ensure social-emotional programming is culturally responsive, inclusive, and appropriate for the developmental needs and lived experiences of the youth and families served. Behavioral Support
- Observe and assess youth behavioral and social-emotional needs within the SACC environment.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and update individualized behavioral support plans in collaboration with the SACC Director, program staff, families, and other appropriate professionals.
- Develop positive behavioral interventions and strategies designed specifically for an out-of-school-time setting.
- Track behavioral data to identify patterns, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and adjust strategies as appropriate.
- Provide in-the-moment behavioral support, de-escalation, and crisis intervention when youth are experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Support successful transitions between school, SACC programming, activities, and other program environments.
- Assist staff in understanding the function of behaviors and identifying appropriate interventions rather than relying solely on punitive responses.
- Support restorative approaches following behavioral incidents and help youth successfully reintegrate into programming. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
- Serve as a member of the SACC multidisciplinary team and participate in regular case conferencing and program planning.
- Collaborate with the SACC Director, Family Case Manager, academic staff, youth development professionals, and other Club staff to provide coordinated support to youth.
- Review available IEPs, 504 Plans, behavioral plans, and other relevant educational information to help the Club appropriately support youth within the SACC environment.
- Work with families to better understand youth strengths, needs, behavioral patterns, and strategies that are successful at home and school.
- Collaborate, as appropriate and with proper authorization, with schools, social workers, behavioral health providers, and other community-based professionals supporting participating youth.
- Identify when a child's needs may require services beyond the scope of the SACC program and work with appropriate Club staff to connect families to additional resources.
STAFF SUPPORT & CAPACITY BUILDING
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to SACC staff regarding behavior management, positive youth development, SEL, de-escalation, restorative practices, and culturally responsive approaches.
- Model effective youth engagement and behavioral intervention strategies for frontline staff.
- Assist the SACC Director in identifying staff training needs related to youth behavior and social-emotional development.
- Develop and facilitate staff training related to SEL curriculum, behavioral supports, neurodiversity, trauma-responsive practices, crisis prevention, and other relevant topics.
- Help establish consistent behavioral expectations and responses across SACC classrooms and program spaces.
- Support staff following significant behavioral incidents and assist with developing strategies to reduce recurrence.
SACC PROGRAM LEADERSHIP / DIRECTOR ON SITE
- Serve as the Director on Site when the SACC Director is not present, consistent with agency policies and applicable OCFS requirements.
- Support the SACC Director in maintaining a safe, structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate program environment.
- Provide leadership and direction to SACC staff during assigned Director-on-Site periods.
- Monitor program areas to ensure appropriate supervision, staff-to-child ratios, program expectations, and child safety practices are maintained.
- Respond to parent/guardian questions, staff concerns, behavioral incidents, emergencies, and other operational matters occurring during assigned leadership coverage.
- Immediately communicate significant incidents, safety concerns, regulatory issues, or other matters requiring escalation to the SACC Director and/or appropriate agency leadership.
- Assist with daily program operations and implementation as needed.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ensure confidentiality of youth and family information.
DOCUMENTATION & PROGRAM QUALITY
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of behavioral interventions, behavioral support plans, significant incidents, family contacts, referrals, and other required records.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality of youth and family information.
- Track behavioral and SEL-related data to assess trends and program effectiveness.
- Provide information for internal program reports and grant reporting as requested.
- Participate in program quality improvement activities.
- Assist the SACC Director in ensuring behavioral and SEL practices are aligned with Boys & Girls Club standards, agency policies, and applicable SACC requirements.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
- Establish positive, respectful relationships with parents and caregivers.
- Communicate with families regarding behavioral and social-emotional supports in a strengths-based and culturally responsive manner.
- Participate in family meetings when behavioral or social-emotional concerns require coordinated planning.
- Assist families in identifying appropriate community resources and services when additional support is needed.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with schools and community-based providers as appropriate.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
- Current New York State LMSW license required.
- Demonstrated professional experience working directly with school-age youth, preferably ages 5-12.
- Experience in school-age child care, out-of-school-time programming, youth development, school social work, behavioral health, education, or a related setting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience implementing social-emotional learning, behavioral interventions, positive behavior supports, crisis intervention, and/or restorative practices.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the social-emotional and behavioral needs of school-age children.
- Understanding of IEPs, 504 Plans, behavioral intervention plans, and school-based supports.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Behavioral supports must be strengths-based, equitable, culturally responsive, and respectful of the individual child and family.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work the hours necessary to provide leadership coverage during SACC program operations.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively to behavioral crises and emergency situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also exercising sound independent judgment when serving as Director on Site.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace and agency data/documentation systems.
- Valid driver's license and insurance, as required by agency policy.
- Must successfully complete all required OCFS background checks, clearances, and agency-mandated training.
- Must maintain all qualifications and training required for the position and for assigned Director-on-Site responsibilities.
