A Social or Human Services Assistant assists with identifying and arranging community services for clients. Works with social workers and other human services professionals. Helps with rehabilitation for people with disabilities or those in recovery, or coordinates home care services for the elderly; may also coordinate housing or job training assistance for immigrants, veterans, former inmates or families in crisis.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Greet public, answer phones with compassion and understanding, and direct to the appropriate person when needed.
  • Manage entrances to the Social Services Lobby, Pantries and Restrooms when needed.
  • Oversee the Shower, Lunch Bag and Diaper Bank Programs and maintain proper paperwork for statistics when needed.
  • Schedule client appointments, interviews, maintain client files, update information with each visit and assist with Social Services services such as emergency food, utilities, rent, and other basic human needs in conjunction with the Social Services Director.
  • Assist with Season Programs/Events.
  • Assist with packaging and serving Soup Kitchen meals.
  • Assist with packing Weekenders meals/snacks.
  • Work with volunteers in packaging/serving Soup Kitchen meals and packing Weekenders means/snacks.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented skill set and ability to offer genuine compassionate care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to schedule and perform designated responsibilities independently
  • self-motivated.
  • A team player, positive, teachable, "can do" attitude, knowledgeable and competency in computer skills.
