SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for coordinating the clinical care and education needs of patients requiring durable mechanical circulatory support (dMCS) and/or transplant. This includes Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), Total Artificial Hearts (TAH) and general knowledge of temporary circulatory support devices used to bridge patients to dMCS devices or transplant. Within the scope of an RN, responsible for the oversight and coordination of the extensive requirements from the referral/evaluation phase, to transplant/ short term dMCS/ long term dMCS and post-op management for the longevity of this patient population.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
(S): Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing required. Minimum two (2) years of experience working with cardiac patients and/or two (2) years of critical care experience. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact required. Certification as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC), and/or VAD Certification, as applicable to the role, and approved by the Program Manager. If Certification is not held at time of hire, must establish a plan with Program Manager for obtaining certification within two (2) years of date of hire. BLS required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
(S): Experience working with cardiac transplant and/or mechanical circulatory support patients. ACLS preferred.
