DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This entry level position works closely with caseworkers and other social service aides to provide services and assistance in all areas of family life to families with children. Work occurs in consumers' homes after a caseworker has visited and determined the services to be provided. This is a rewarding opportunity for one-on-one assistance and communication with families to help them work toward positive goals and outcomes. As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will perform the following duties:

Parenting Education:

Provide in-home instruction on constructive parenting approaches

Daily Life Skills:

Help families set up and follow a budget; teach consumers proper hygiene, nutrition, cooking and food shopping skills, and maintenance of the home

Planning Help:

Write a report of each appointment with consumers, participate in meetings with other staff to develop treatment plans and set goals for consumers; and complete clerical office duties as needed

Work Accountability:

Manage multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, pays close attention to details under a constantly changing work environment

Team Growth:

Participate in training programs offered to develop skills and knowledge

Special Assistance:

Work may include attending court to testify, transporting consumers to supervised visitation and necessary appointments, providing childcare, and helping consumers complete applications and forms

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Possible after-hours appointments for supervised visitation and transportation.

Possible travel requiring overnight stays.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary:

In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Graduation from high school; or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

You must pass a background investigation.

A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
