Child Life Services Coordinator- Child Life - ( 260003NT ) Description A Brief Overview The Child Life Services Coordinator serves as a key member of the Child Life Services leadership team, functioning at an advanced level of professional practice, with leadership competencies that extend beyond direct clinical care to include programmatic oversight, strategic initiative leadership, and systems‑level influence in accordance with ACLP Administration and Professional Responsibility standards. The Child Life Services Coordinator supports department operations and initiatives while advancing the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. What you will do Provides advanced leadership in child life practice through expert consultation, clinical reasoning, and systems‑level application of child life theory to support consistent, high‑quality psychosocial care across service areas. Applies expert clinical judgment to complex clinical scenarios, including adult, bereavement, and cross‑continuum consults, ensuring care delivery aligns with ACLP standards and institutional clinical practice guidelines. Leads the development, evaluation, and refinement of child life programs, services, and practice guidelines to advance the scope, effectiveness, and sustainability of psychosocial care. Partners with interdisciplinary stakeholders to identify service gaps, guide program expansion, and align child life initiatives with hospital strategic goals and evidence‑based standards. Leads departmental committees, workgroups, and strategic initiatives with responsibility for translating organizational priorities into actionable and measurable improvements in child life practice, operations, and outcomes. Ensures initiatives are informed by data, aligned with professional standards, and evaluated for impact at the department level. Provides ongoing professional mentorship and leadership to Child Life team members by supporting professional development, clinical growth, project leadership, and emerging leadership skills. Serves as a role model for advanced practice, professionalism, and values‑based leadership, promoting a culture of learning, engagement, and continuous improvement. Applies systems thinking and data‑informed leadership to support quality improvement initiatives, patient and family experience efforts, and evaluation of psychosocial care outcomes, using metrics and performance trends to inform improvement and regulatory readiness. Provides advanced operational leadership for Child Life Services by coordinating daily service coverage, prioritization of referrals, and workflow across units to ensure equitable, efficient, and high‑quality psychosocial care delivery. Integrates operational decision‑making with strategic priorities, practice standards, and quality outcomes while supporting staff effectiveness without direct managerial authority. Represents child life services at the departmental and organizational level, modeling professional responsibility, ethical practice, and alignment with ACLP standards, hospital policies, and the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. Contributes subject‑matter expertise to interdisciplinary discussions, committees, and planning efforts impacting pediatric and family‑centered care. Provides advanced clinical supervision for Child Life team members by supporting complex clinical decision‑making, ethical deliberation, conflict resolution, and problem‑solving. Ensures practice accountability, consistency with ACLP standards, and adherence to departmental expectations while fostering reflective practice and psychological safety. Supports long‑term sustainability of Child Life Services by strengthening professional development pathways, mentoring emerging leaders, and contributing to succession readiness for critical roles and program functions. Provides leadership and oversight of specialized programs (e.g., Pediatric Facility Dog Program), ensuring appropriate clinical use, staff training and support, program evaluation, and responsible resource utilization. Ensures program alignment with organizational priorities, safety standards, donor intent, and evidence‑informed practice. Leads and oversees workforce pipeline initiatives including student internships, volunteer programs, visiting learners, new staff orientation, and hiring support processes, ensuring compliance with ACLP standards and readiness for safe clinical practice. Leads the implementation of new or revised child life practices, workflows, and standards, guiding change management efforts to ensure consistent adoption, staff readiness, and sustained practice transformation across the department. Partners with hospital foundation, marketing, and communications teams to coordinate donor engagement, tours, media opportunities, and external representation of Child Life Services. Serves as a trusted liaison ensuring alignment between clinical programs, donor intent, and organizational messaging. Demonstrates the ability to identify clinical, operational, and reputational risks related to child life practice and program delivery and proactively supports mitigation strategies in alignment with institutional policy and ACLP ethical standards. Serves as a liaison between Child Life staff, leadership, and interdisciplinary teams, and represents Child Life Services in shared governance, hospital committees, best‑practice forums, and external engagement efforts. Models integrity, accountability, and emotional intelligence while fostering psychological safety, trust, and respect across the Child Life team and interdisciplinary partners. Qualifications Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Child Life Bachelor's Degree Child Development Bachelor's Degree Related Field Licenses and Certifications Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) Experience Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a CCLS. An equivalent combination of education/certification and realized competencies. Skills and Abilities Demonstrates advanced, expert‑level knowledge of the theoretical foundations of child life practice—including child development, therapeutic play, stress and coping, family systems theory, and patient‑ and family‑centered care—and applies this knowledge at a consultative and programmatic level consistent with ACLP clinical and professional practice Exhibits advanced clinical judgment and expertise across all core child life competency domains, including complex adult and bereavement consultation, providing guidance that informs team practice and supports organizational standards of Demonstrates advanced systems‑level thinking and leadership competency to guide child life practice, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with departmental goals, institutional priorities, and ACLP Administration and Professional Responsibility Leads departmental committees and strategic initiatives with responsibility for advancing child life program development, operational effectiveness, and alignment with organizational and professional Demonstrates the ability to lead complex change efforts, influence stakeholders without formal authority, and drive adoption of new practices across interdisciplinary Demonstrates advanced communication and executive presence when representing Child Life Services to leadership, donors, external partners, and interdisciplinary Demonstrates advanced child life knowledge and professional leadership skill to provide clinical mentorship that promotes reflective practice, professional growth, and sustained competency development across the department, consistent with ACLP Education and Supervision Serves as an expert clinical and professional resource, influencing practice standards, guiding ethical decision‑making, and supporting team members in navigating complex clinical and operational Applies advanced leadership skill to support departmental operations, quality initiatives, and process improvement efforts that impact service delivery, patient experience, and team effectiveness, without direct supervisory Utilizes data, outcomes, and professional expertise to contribute to program evaluation, quality and performance improvement initiatives, and strategic planning affecting the scope and delivery of child life
