Job Description

Description Because Every Resident Deserves a Champion, a Cheerleader, and Occasionally a Therapist with a Clipboard Do you have a heart the size of Missouri, the multitasking power of an octopus, and the uncanny ability to calm chaos with just a raised eyebrow? Congratulations—this job might be your calling. At Helia Healthcare, our Social Services Director is the emotional GPS, the family-wrangler, the morale booster, and the behind-the-scenes hero making sure residents get everything they need—practically, emotionally, and socially. If you love helping people, solving problems, and making things better (preferably all before lunch), this is your kind of adventure. What You'll Be Doing (
AKA:
Your Mission Should You Choose to Accept It) Playing detective as you gather and assess info about residents' psychosocial needs, risk factors, life stories, quirks, and occasionally… family drama. Designing social service interventions that actually work, improving quality of life and helping residents shine like the stars they are. Completing required documentation like the organized professional you are—not the "I'll do it later" version of you from college. Masterminding discharge plans that make sense, keep everyone safe, and don't make the nursing staff cry. Leading your social services crew with charisma, compassion, and just enough structure to keep the wheels turning smoothly. Coordinating the Family Council—yes, even Uncle Larry with the opinions. Managing the grievance process with grace, professionalism, and sometimes snacks. Collaborating with families, physicians, staff, and referral sources to keep everyone on the same page and emotionally intact. Tracking quality indicators like the data superstar you are—because excellence is a team sport. Requirements What You Bring to the Party A bachelor's degree in social work or a related human-services major (sociology, gerontology, psych, rehab counseling, special ed—pick your flavor). At least one year of social work experience with supervisory duties and direct work with geriatric residents. A current Missouri or Illinois Social Work license (location dependent—no teleportation required). Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and enough regulatory knowledge to impress even the sternest surveyor. Leadership skills strong enough to guide a team and communication skills smooth enough to calm just about anyone. The ability to collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals without needing caffeine as a translator. Working knowledge of behavioral health systems and the networking skills of someone who knows how to get things done. The Fine Print (Still Important!): Offers of employment are contingent upon a successful background check and drug screen. We want to keep our residents safe, happy, and in good hands—you're part of that promise. Helia Healthcare, LLC is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We're committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better we can serve our community.
