Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
The Social Services Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to social services staff within the behavioral health hospital. This position assists the Director of Social Services in ensuring the delivery of high-quality psychosocial services, discharge planning, patient advocacy, and coordination of care. The Social Services Supervisor may maintain a limited caseload while overseeing staff performance, workflow, compliance, and professional development. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Staff Supervision and Leadership Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to social workers, case managers, and other assigned social services personnel. Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations of social services staff. Monitor staff productivity, documentation, and adherence to departmental policies and procedures. Coach staff in clinical and professional development, conflict resolution, and effective patient engagement. Serve as a resource for complex patient, family, and discharge planning issues. Clinical Oversight Oversee the provision of psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and discharge planning services. Ensure social services interventions are patient-centered, trauma-informed, and aligned with hospital standards. Review documentation for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. Assist staff with managing high-risk cases, family meetings, and community resource coordination. Department Operations Assist the Director of Social Services with departmental planning, staffing, workflow management, and program development. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, leadership meetings, and hospital committees as assigned. Provide coverage for the Director of Social Services during absences as designated. Maintain a limited patient caseload as needed to support department operations. Quality and Regulatory Compliance Monitors clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance. Ensures adherence to Joint Commission, CMS, state, and organizational standards. Assists with chart audits and quality improvement activities. Identifies opportunities to improve clinical outcomes and department performance. Supports implementation of department policies, procedures, and best practices. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program. Minimum of three (3) years of social work experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, hospital, or healthcare settings. Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial assessment, discharge planning, crisis intervention, and community resource coordination. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Requirements:
Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a behavioral health or hospital setting. Current social work licensure in the State of Kansas (LSCSW, LMSW, or other qualifying licensure as permitted by state regulations). Experience with accreditation standards (The Joint Commission, CMS, or equivalent). Knowledge of trauma-informed care, case management, and behavioral health treatment systems.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
