ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent in this position, through a strength-based approach, oversees the Y-NOW Mentoring Children of Prisoners program; including all program responsibilities for 30+ youth (whose parents are incarcerated or experiencing active addiction), program mentors and volunteers, family caregivers, and additional alumni youth in the Youth Leaders program. The Incumbent provides all supervision and support necessary to ensure that youth, mentors, caregivers, and youth leaders in the Y-NOW program are making progress on their commitments (goals, participation, relationship with mentor, etc.).

Qualifications:

KNOW HOW/REQUIREMENTS

Strong oral and written communications skills. High awareness of community resources and referring agencies. Availability to work some nights and weekends. Ability to be out of town for several days at a time for the camp/retreat and/or youth trip. Bachelor's Degree required. Masters preferred. Minimum of 2 years of management experience in a social service capacity Minimum of 4 years experience in case managing volunteers/mentors, and/or working with high-risk youth, age 11-20; Extensive knowledge of Children of Prisoners or youth who have experienced trauma preferred. Familiarity with the philosophies of Trauma Informed Care and Positive Youth Development Strong multi-tasking, organization and time management skills. Strong computer skills (Outlook; Microsoft Office) and knowledge of web based applications. Valid Kentucky/Indiana driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift 40 pounds. Ability to drive a YMCA Van. Ability to work activities both inside and outside (regardless of the weather).
