Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-7pm & Friday's 3:30pm-5:30pm
Pay:
$20 an hour All candidates must be able to successfully complete all criminal/reference background checks. Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Assists the Site Director in the overall daily operations of the assigned Club location. Serves as the second leader of the Club, ensuring a safe, positive, and high-quality environment for members and staff. Supports program quality, staff supervision and coaching, member behavior management, administrative functions, and day-to-day operations while acting on behalf of the Site Director when needed.
KEY ROLES
- Assist the Site Director in establishing and maintaining a Club environment that prepares youth for success and supports positive youth development outcomes.
- Serve as the Club's second-in-command and provide day-to-day operational leadership in the Site Director's absence.
- Provide guidance to Club members and serve as a positive role model.
- Support social and emotional learning throughout the Club.
- Ensure a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment by monitoring facilities, equipment, supplies, and program spaces.
- Exercise authority in addressing member behavior using a trauma-informed approach.
- Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating Club-wide programs, services, and activities.
- Monitor attendance, program quality, and participation data and assist in preparing required reports.
- Fills in for Youth Development Professionals in the running of spaces as needed
- Assist with ensuring compliance with organizational policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of staff.
- Support volunteers and ensure they receive appropriate orientation and supervision.
- Build positive relationships with parents, schools, and community partners.
- Assist with daily building cleanliness and facility appearance.
- Assist with Family Nights and organizational events.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, organizational meetings, and trainings.
- May be required to drive an organizational vehicle.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum three years of experience working with school-age youth.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of positive youth development and BGCA programming is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to support staff, motivate youth, and manage challenging behaviors.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality youth programs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
- Valid State Driver's License.

All employees working directly with children at Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
