Within the department, the Adult Protective Services (APS) Division is legally mandated to provide a comprehensive system of protective interventions for adults aged 18 and older who are unable to protect themselves from abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Operating through a vital statewide network of regional boundaries and field offices, APS staff conduct thorough, field-based investigations, perform risk assessments, and deliver crucial short-term crisis stabilization services. The division collaborates heavily with law enforcement, healthcare providers, behavioral health systems, and local community agencies to address immediate safety needs while fiercely promoting the personal choice, self-determination, and safety of New Mexico's most vulnerable citizens. Ideal Candidate The Regional Manager oversees services delivered directly to New Mexico's most vulnerable adults, ages 18 and older, who are experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Minimum Qualification Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and/or Family Studies/Services and six (6) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Or, Licensure as a Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Psychologist by the appropriate New Mexico Licensing Board and six (6) years¿ experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Background and business reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate as a condition of continued employment.
