Job Description

Westchester Jewish Center seeks an energetic, creative, and relationship-driven Director of Youth and Family Engagement to lead and reimagine our youth and family programming. This is a unique opportunity to shape the next chapter of youth engagement at WJC by building upon current programming and developing innovative new programming that inspires connection, community, and Jewish identity from early childhood through the teen years. The ideal candidate is someone who loves working with young people, building community, and creating joyful Jewish experiences that leave a lasting impact. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will serve as a member of the synagogue's senior leadership team and work closely with clergy, the Early Childhood Center, and the Religious School. Together, these partners collaborate to create meaningful experiences that deepen the Jewish lives of our children, teens, and families. This newly created role offers the opportunity to take a broad, strategic view of youth engagement and build a cohesive and dynamic program that supports families through each developmental stage and milestone. Core Responsibilities Youth and Family Engagement Design and lead creative, meaningful, and age-appropriate social programming for youth from early childhood through high school (Early Childhood, K-5, grades 6-7, and grades 8-12) Plan and implement youth group events, Shabbat and holiday programming, social gatherings, trips, and community-building experiences Develop engaging family programming that strengthens relationships among parents, children, and the broader WJC community Partner with clergy in planning and facilitating the social and communal components of the B'nei Mitzvah cohort family learning program Support and mentor teen leadership, including oversight of the synagogue's BBYO chapter Foster ongoing relationships with college-age members to maintain connection to WJC Community Building & Communication Build strong relationships with youth, teens, and families to cultivate a culture of belonging and engagement Manage marketing, publicity, and social media related to youth and family programming Maintain consistent and thoughtful communication with parents and participants Recruit, train, and mentor part-time youth advisors and teen leaders Administration & Collaboration Maintain accurate records and databases of youth and teen participation Partner with the Executive Director and synagogue treasurer to develop and manage program budgets Collaborate with clergy and professional staff to ensure alignment across youth, family, and educational programming Develop partnerships with local Jewish organizations, schools, and youth-serving institutions to broaden opportunities for engagement Qualifications & Skills 3-5 years of experience in youth engagement, Jewish education, informal education, or related fields Graduate degree in education, social work, Jewish studies, or a related discipline preferred but not required Demonstrated creativity and success in developing engaging programs and experiences Strong leadership, organizational, and project-management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a passion for relationship-building Comfort with digital tools and platforms including Google Workspace and social media A deep commitment to Jewish life, community building, and serving as a role model for youth and families Collaborative spirit and openness to reflection, growth, and innovation This position includes evening and weekend responsibilities , reflecting the rhythms of synagogue and youth programming. Compensation Full-time, exempt position $70,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience
