Job Description

Job Summary The Director of Community Services for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (CSD) is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic growth, financial sustainability, and community impact of CSD programming at Greenleaf Family Center. This position leads business development efforts, including grant writing, government partnerships, and revenue diversification, while ensuring high-quality, culturally affirming services for Deaf, DeafBlind, and hard-of-hearing individuals across the region. This role serves as the primary relationship manager for CSD funding partners, most notably Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD), and works across sectors to expand access, awareness, and advocacy for the communities CSD serves. The Director provides oversight of department operations, staff performance, and program quality, and partners with the Operations Manager to ensure quality and compliance in daily operations and interpreting services. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Program Development Develop and execute strategic initiatives in alignment with Greenleaf's organizational priorities, identifying opportunities for program growth, new partnerships, and community impact. Build and maintain external relationships with government agencies, Community Centers for the Deaf, funders, and community partners to grow CSD's service footprint and revenue base. Partner with Development and Communications Officer on grant writing activity, including prospecting, proposal development, budget preparation, and post-award compliance. Drive service innovation which includes virtual delivery capabilities, specialized programs, and emergency accessibility services. Monitor the disability services funding landscape and proactively adjust programs and budgets to sustain and grow financial performance. Partner with CEO to negotiate and manage contracts with service providers, funding agencies, and community partners, maintaining current knowledge of OOD billing practices and policy requirements. Program Oversight and Quality Assurance Oversee all CSD programs and services, monitoring performance indicators, outcomes, and financial results to inform programmatic decisions. Ensure accurate and timely documentation, billing, and compliance across all funding streams and applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards. Community Engagement & Advocacy Represent Greenleaf at regional and statewide forums, coalitions, and advocacy bodies. Design and deliver deaf culture and accessibility training for internal and external stakeholders. Develop and promote community events and outreach to attract new consumers and deepen community connection. Staff Leadership & Development Directly supervise the Case Manager, Advocacy and VR Specialist/Interpreter, and CSD Operations Manager; safeguard the people, processes, and systems that ensure interpreting services reflect the highest standards of quality, ethics, and community trust — working in partnership with the CSD Operations Manager, who leads day-to-day operations of that function. Cultivate a high-performing, inclusive team staff feel equally valued; conduct regular staff meetings and model Greenleaf's values. Champion professional growth and continuing education across the department; recruit and hire prioritizing cultural competency and commitment to the communities CSD serves. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, ASL Studies, Nonprofit Management, or a related field; Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in human services, disability services, or a related field, with significant direct experience serving Deaf, DeafBlind, or hard-of-hearing individuals. Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL). Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and automobile insurance to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Ohio. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with PSE, SEE, and ProTactile communication with DeafBlind individuals stronglypreferred. Established working relationships with Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) or comparable state VR or disability services agencies. Experience in nonprofit business development, including earned revenue strategies and public-private partnership cultivation.
