BASIC ROLE

The Housing Navigator provides direct assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the Imperial Valley. Funded through the Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) Round 4 grant, this position connects clients to housing resources, temporary shelter, rental assistance, and supportive services. The Housing Navigator works collaboratively with community partners, landlords, and service providers to reduce barriers and support clients in achieving stable housing.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

Conduct outreach to individuals and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability Complete housing assessments and assist clients in developing individualized housing stability plans Connect clients to emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent housing opportunities Assist clients in completing applications for rental assistance, rapid rehousing, and other housing programs Serve as a liaison between clients and landlords to facilitate housing placement and retention Coordinate with internal case managers and external service providers to address barriers to housing (e.g., mental health, substance use, domestic violence, unemployment) Maintain accurate and timely case notes, documentation, and data entry in compliance with grant reporting requirements Assist clients in understanding tenant rights and responsibilities Participate in coordinated entry system (CES) activities and community collaborative meetings Support program compliance with HHAP R4 grant objectives and reporting deadlines Perform other duties as assigned Schedule may be flexible 8am-5pm, 9am-6pm & 10am- 7pm

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED required, Associate's or bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, or related field preferred Minimum one (2) year of experience in case management, housing services, or social services Knowledge of local housing resources, shelter systems, and community services in the Imperial Valley Strong written and verbal communication skills Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation required Ability to pass background check Experience working with homeless populations, domestic violence survivors, or vulnerable communities Familiarity with coordinated entry systems (CES) and HMIS data systems Knowledge of landlord engagement and housing retention strategies Experience in a nonprofit or social services environment SKILLS Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Strong comfort level with public speaking and representing the agency. Compassionate, trauma-informed approach to service delivery Highly organized with strong follow-through Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize multiple tasks Culturally competent and sensitive to the needs of diverse populations Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Must be able to obtain background and drug test clearance. Must possess a valid California driver's license/minimum vehicle insurance required by law and maintained throughout the duration of employment.

Please note:

Upon job offering a current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier is required. No Driver can have any of the following in the last three years: 1) More than 3 moving violations or 2 accidents, 2) No suspensions of revocation of license, 3) No single violaton involving reckless driving, driving under the influence, racing or fleeing an officer or accident.

Pay:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
