Youth Engagement Specialist

Location:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Youth Engagement Specialist is a non-exempt position responsible for providing crisis intervention and wrap-around services within the City of St. Petersburg for youth and their families.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide an in-person response, as required, and within the timeframes designated by contractual requirements

Identify strengths, limitations, risk factors, and needs, using the required assessment tool, to develop a Support Plan and coordination of services

Provide referral and follow-up to appropriate community resources as deemed appropriate to meet youth and families' needs

Coordinate with schools, the Department of Corrections, the Juvenile Justice Department, and other community providers

Perform all other duties as assigned

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor's degree in social work or related area of study from an accredited college or university

Two (2) years' experience in field-based social work or related human services field preferred

Knowledge of child development preferred

Competent in using Microsoft Office applications

Verbal de-escalation skills

Organized and detail-oriented

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to work in high-stress situations

Ability to work with individuals who exhibit physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviors

Use of personal vehicle to transport clients as needed.

Must have a valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
