The Public Service Officer provides support to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office by performing non-sworn duties that promote public safety and community engagement. This position responds to non-emergency calls, assists in administrative tasks, and supports sworn personnel in delivering services that enhance trust and fosters positive relationships within the community. Conducts parking enforcement. Prepares reports and affidavits. Conducts dwelling, building, or grounds checks. Investigates traffic crashes and directs traffic around crashes, congested areas, and hazards. Testifies at trials, hearings, and depositions. Assist patrol with taking reports not involving felonies or suspects. All CCSO employees are considered essential emergency workers and are subject to working in any capacity/hours deemed necessary by the Agency during activations, including but not limited to, in-County and out-of-County deployments.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to use a 2-way radio Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manuals Working knowledge of computer software programs and Microsoft Office Strong customer service skills High school diploma or GED. Successful completion of the Public Service Officer training program and an approved traffic crash investigation course. Requires long periods of sitting, standing, walking, speaking, reaching, twisting, and turning daily. Requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and using a computer keyboard. May require long periods outdoors in varied weather conditions with the ability to crouch, crawl, and occasionally lift items.
