Job Description
The Community Agriculture & Sustainability Volunteer Coordinator collaborates with staff to coordinate and facilitate volunteer activities for the Community Agriculture & Sustainability Division throughout the City of Alpharetta. They also work under the guidance of the Community Services Manager to coordinate the field operations of the city's regenerative, organic farm.
- This position is temporary part-time.
- The following duties are typical for this classification.
Knowledge of:
Small-scale organic food production. Small construction tool use and basic building skills. Topics including urban agriculture, botany, horticulture, environmental science, health and nutrition, food systems, food access and food security.Ability to:
Work independently and be flexible. Work outdoors with exposure to sun during planting seasons, and in warm and cold weather. Work with diverse populations including youth and adults. Plan and organize programs. Multitask, meet deadlines and documentation requirements. Occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Occasionally reach and grasp with arms and hands. Any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job qualifies.- High-school diploma
- Two to three years of volunteer coordination experience with outdoor group management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations including youth and adults.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking skills.
- Computer (Microsoft applications) and project management skills.
