Shelter Coordinator

Full-Time Schedule:
Primarily Monday-Friday, emergencies, and on-call coverage as needed. Position Summary The Shelter Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation and coordination of NGMCN's emergency shelter. This position provides supervision and support to shelter staff, coordinates resident services, maintains a safe and organized environment, and ensures shelter policies, documentation, and procedures are followed. The Shelter Coordinator serves as a resource for staff and works closely with agency leadership and community partners. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Shelter Operations Oversee the daily operation of the emergency shelter and ensure appropriate staffing and while coordinating maintenance, repairs, and budget needs. Ensure shelter policies, procedures, safety protocols, and resident expectations are consistently followed. Respond to emergencies, safety concerns, conflicts, and other shelter-related incidents. Staff Supervision & Support Supervise, train, support, and evaluate shelter staff. Create and maintain staff schedules and coordinate coverage for callouts, leave, and other staffing needs. Resident Services Ensure residents are treated with dignity, respect, and confidentiality while receiving NGMCN services. Coordinate with advocates regarding safety planning, crisis coordination, legal services, counseling, transportation, housing, employment, medical care, and other needs. Documentation Ensure shelter records, logs, forms, and case management program documentation are completed accurately and timely. Monitor documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintain accurate shelter statistics and assist with reports and budgets required by agency leadership and funding sources. Communication & Coordination Maintain regular communication with the Assistant Director and Executive Director regarding shelter operations, staffing, resident concerns, and facility needs. Maintain positive working relationships with staff, community partners, service providers, and other agencies. Hold or participate in regular shelter staff meetings and communicate important updates and expectations. Training & Quality Improvement Participate in required agency meetings, events, training, and professional development. Stay informed on best practices related to domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and shelter services. Other Duties Assist with emergency shelter coverage when needed and is on the on-call rotation. Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by the Executive Director or Assistant Director.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field. Previous leadership experience in a business setting. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals experiencing crisis. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and stressful situations. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and required background checks.
Preferred:
Master's degree in related field. Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Experience in a shelter, residential, or social service setting. Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. Familiarity with local community resources and service systems. Physical & Work Requirements Must be able to move throughout the shelter, lift and carry supplies as needed, respond to emergencies, and work effectively in a sometimes stressful and emotionally challenging environment.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
