The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) is responsible for assisting tenants to identify services and benefits that will enable tenants to maintain independence. The RSC works in conjunction with the Property Manager and always maintains a mutually respectful, collaborative relationship. Please note this is a part time position consisting of 26 hours a week. The objective of the RSC position is to work from an empowerment model toward the goal of self-actualization of the residents. The RSC must fulfill many roles to meet this goal including; educator, community builder, advocate, investigator, liaison, and service facilitator. The qualifications for the Resident Services Coordinator are as follows: A Bachelor of Social Work or degree in Psychology or Counseling is preferred. At least two years' experience in social service delivery with an elderly and/or disabled population. Demonstrated working knowledge of supportive services and various resources that will be required to perform the duties of an RSC successfully. Demonstrated ability to advocate, organize, problem-solve, and provide results for the residents you will be serving. The specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Have knowledge of aging process and apply understanding to the development of programs and services to enhance successful aging in place for the resident community. Use professional skills to access and respond to changing psychological, physical and social needs of the resident population. Utilize American Association of Service Coordinators (AASC) software as well as other industry specific software as needed. Provide a receptive environment which encourages trusting relationships and the opportunity for resident confidentiality when appropriate. Use clinical and organizational skills to balance increasing resident needs with available community resources. Assist tenants to identify services and benefits needed to maintain independence, and facilitate accessing those services. Develop relationships and maintain linkages with community agencies to enhance responsiveness to resident needs as well as to be aware of developments in community services. Link residents with existing services provided by social service agencies to access entitlement services and funding resources. Sponsor educational events which may include subjects relating to health care, agency support, life skills, referral sources, etc. Coordinate resident services as necessary. Work with residents to develop new community oriented activities and social programs. Work with residents and families when transitioning to a nursing home is under consideration or becomes necessary. Work with management staff to assist with problems identified through unit inspections, recertification or other encounters. Assist management staff in the resolution of tenant disputes or when situations of unusual tenant behavior occur. Provide monthly activity reports and annual reports to comply with Barkan Management Company, Inc. and HUD monitoring requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality with residents, unless reason to believe resident is being abused or neglected or is at risk. Maintain a file for all tenants accessing supportive services, including releases of information and progress notes. Distribute notices to the residents throughout the community to keep them informed of upcoming events & services. Assist with any other such assigned duties per the request of the Property Manager.
