None Position Overview The Loaves and Fishes ("L&F") On-Call Night Shelter Coordinator provides coverage for the regularly scheduled Night Shelter Coordinator when additional or substitute coverage is needed. When scheduled, this position assumes the responsibilities of the Night Shelter Coordinator, ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive environment for shelter guests during overnight hours. Responsibilities include monitoring the facility, assisting guests with basic needs, responding to emergencies, enforcing shelter policies and procedures, maintaining the cleanliness and order of the shelter, and providing trauma-informed, respectful interaction at all times. This is an on-call position with no regular or guaranteed schedule . Hours will vary based on staffing and operational needs, including coverage for absences, time off, vacancies, emergencies, or other circumstances requiring additional coverage. Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Understand and uphold L&F's vision, purpose, and core values.
- Maintain working knowledge of homelessness-related issues.
- Follow all L&F policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.
- Monitor facility access and ensure guest safety.
- Operate security equipment and conduct regular safety rounds.
- Provide assistance to guests, including preparing meals, overseeing laundry schedule, and providing basic necessities.
- Always provide respectful interactions to ensure guests are treated with dignity and compassion.
- Responds in accordance with procedures to any emergency situations that may arise.
- Enforce shelter rules, including ensuring timely guest departure each morning.
- Cleaning and general maintenance as instructed.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to planning and updates as requested.
- Submit activity summaries and daily checklists.
- Attend special events, meetings, workshops, conferences, and training opportunities as required.
- Collaborate professionally with staff, guests, volunteers, and community responders.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Certifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability and availability to work overnight shifts.
- Previous experience working with people vulnerable/homeless experiencing homelessnesspopulations preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with guests, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and/or with limited supervision and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm, andrespectful and professional in stressful situations.
- Basic conflict resolution and de-escalation skills preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must successfully complete a drug screening and criminal background check.
