Ministry Discovery Intern

Position Summary:
The Ministry Discovery Intern is a leadership position which exists to develop individuals inpreparation for full-time ministry through Salvation Army Officership. This individual will work with the Corps Officer tolearn and experience involvement with and leadership of the daily and weekly responsibilities and programming of thecorps.
The Ministry Discovery Intern Program is to experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. Thisrequires that duties and responsibilities will be adjusted based on corps programming and seasonal needs. There is atraining emphasis and local service priorities to give a well-rounded experience and exposure to Salvation Armyprogramming and leadership.
Essential Responsibilities:
Participate in worship and Christian education programs at the corps through planning, leading,preaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles. That would include activities such as SundaySchool, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, small groups, etc.
Participate in and coordinate the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs,and special programming. That would include activities such as VBS, Day Camp, Character Building,leadership training and evangelistic outreaches.
Represent The Salvation Army at community events such as, service clubs, committee participation,local school functions and ministerial associations.
Participate in and develop community center, social service, and corps programs.
Coordination of and participation in seasonal programs such as Bell Ringing campaign, summer campsand other special events, as assigned.
Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and youth/adultplanning committees.
Assist in the upkeep of property and facility preparation for programming.
Participate in corps financial goals by observing budgets and support of fund-raising efforts.
Work with and help establish relationships The Salvation Army has such as staff, the public, clients,program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outsidegroups, and community residents.
Will assist in the supervision of youth and program participants, volunteers, and community service
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
3 to 4 years of college in a related field
3 to 4 years of Full-time non-Salvation Army ministry experience (preferred)
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Maintain strict confidentiality
Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)

Pension contributions (currently 6.0% of your earnings) begin the first quarter after 1 year of employment. Vesting starts after three years of employment, 100% vested after five years of employment The Salvation Army also offers a 403(b) voluntary retirement savings plan in which you may participate immediately, with approved vendors. There is currently no organizational match for 403(b) contributions.
Employee Discounts Paid Time Off which includes: Sick days begin accruing the first of the month following 30 days of employment and you may begin to use accrued sick days once available. Up to (6) earned sick days per year may be used as discretionary days. Vacation begins accruing the first of the month after one full calendar month after employment begins, and you may begin to use vacation days after (90) days of employment. The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked. You will receive up to 2 personal days per year based on date of hire.
