In this role, you will support individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness by promoting independence, community integration, and recovery. This position is rooted in empathy, hope, and shared lived experience. You'll help individuals navigate services, build natural supports, and work toward personal recovery goals—all while meeting people where they are, both emotionally and physically. Services are primarily provided in the community at times and locations chosen by the individual, with availability to support needs across a flexible schedule. What You'll Do Provide person-centered support and build meaningful, trusting relationships Help individuals access medical, mental health, housing, employment, and social services Support recovery through education, advocacy, and skill-building Transport individuals to appointments and community resources as needed Coordinate care and act as a liaison between individuals and community supports Monitor progress and adapt support strategies based on changing needs Complete timely, accurate documentation in compliance with agency and regulatory standards Facilitate groups and participate in team meetings and trainings Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required Must have lived experience as a primary consumer of community mental health services Willingness to obtain Michigan Peer Support Specialist Certification What You Bring Strong communication and documentation skills Ability to connect with others in a compassionate, respectful, and hopeful way Effective time management and organizational skills Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and integrated treatment approaches Commitment to recovery-oriented care and person-centered services Additional Requirements Valid Michigan driver's license with acceptable driving record Reliable personal vehicle, proof of insurance, and registration Ability and willingness to travel locally and work flexible/extended hours as needed Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) Completion of required trainings and ongoing professional development Work Environment & Expectations Community-based work with travel throughout the service area Combination of independent work and team collaboration Participation in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and supportive environment Why Join Us?
