Job Description
Job Summary We are growing! The VAC Opportunity Campus is seeking a fun and welcoming Volunteer Coordinator to lead and inspire our volunteer and collaborative support network engagement initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and organizing individual volunteers, groups, and service providers to ensure the successful execution of our daily programs and seasonal events. Your leadership will foster a vibrant volunteer community, enhance program impact, and promote organizational growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference while developing your management and communication skills in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive volunteer recruitment strategies, including recruitment efforts and attending outreach events. Coordinate volunteer onboarding, training sessions, and ongoing development programs to ensure volunteers are well-prepared, motivated, and feel welcomed. Manage volunteer databases and calendars using Bloomerang to track engagement, hours, and program participation efficiently. Supervise volunteers during events and programs, providing leadership, support, and recognition to foster a positive volunteer experience. Design and execute volunteer engagement programs that promote active participation, retention, and community building with shelter guests, staff, and volunteers. Utilize public speaking skills to communicate organizational goals, motivate volunteers, and represent the organization at community events or outreach activities. Collaborate with team members across departments to align volunteer efforts with organizational objectives and ensure seamless program delivery. Qualifications Proven experience in volunteer management or related roles with supervision experience preferred. Strong database management skills Excellent written communication skills for creating training materials, reports, and outreach content. Demonstrated ability in recruitment and retention of volunteers a plus Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Leadership qualities with experience in team management, supervising volunteers or staff members. Effective public speaking abilities to engage diverse audiences confidently. Knowledge of social work principles or experience in social services is a plus. Background in training & development to facilitate volunteer education sessions effectively.
