Full-Time Position Summary The SSVF Housing Navigator is responsible for assisting eligible veteran households experiencing or at risk of homelessness in obtaining and maintaining safe, stable, and affordable housing. The Housing Navigator develops relationships with landlords and property managers, identifies available housing opportunities, assists veterans through the housing search process, and coordinates supportive services to ensure long-term housing stability. This position works closely with case managers, community partners, and landlords to remove barriers to housing and improve housing outcomes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Housing Navigation Conduct comprehensive housing assessments to determine client housing needs and preferences. Assist veterans in locating affordable, safe, and appropriate housing. Develop and maintain positive relationships with landlords, property management companies, and housing providers throughout the service area. Maintain an updated inventory of available rental units. Advocate on behalf of veterans during the housing application process. Assist clients with completing rental applications, obtaining required documentation, and preparing for housing interviews. Coordinate housing inspections and ensure units meet habitability standards. Facilitate lease signings and move-in coordination. Landlord Engagement Recruit new landlords willing to participate in the SSVF program. Educate landlords about SSVF services and available supports. Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords regarding tenant concerns. Mediate disputes between landlords and participants to promote successful tenancy. Build long-term partnerships to increase housing opportunities for veterans. Case Coordination Collaborate with SSVF Case Managers to develop individualized housing plans. Participate in multidisciplinary case staffing meetings. Coordinate with VA Medical Centers, Coordinated Entry, Continuums of Care, public housing authorities, and community agencies. Assist clients in accessing mainstream benefits and community resources. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely client records in HMIS and other required databases. Ensure all documentation complies with VA SSVF Program Guide requirements. Complete required reports, progress notes, and housing documentation within agency timelines. Monitor housing outcomes and follow-up services. Community Outreach Participate in community outreach events to identify veterans experiencing homelessness. Represent the agency at housing coalitions, landlord meetings, and community partnerships. Promote awareness of veteran housing resources throughout the service area. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred. Associate degree with relevant experience may be considered. Minimum of one year of experience in housing services, case management, property management, or a related human services field. Experience working with veterans or individuals experiencing homelessness preferred. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance. Pay:
$20.50 - $22.00 per hour
