JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for managing shelter operations for the Opportunity Center, including client services and staff functions, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed. This position is part-time & will be required to work weekends to cover shifts to maintain the appropriate shelter coverage.

Client Related Expectations:
Use the Coordinated Entry System to identify and process clients, attending and actively contributing to weekly By Name List case conference meeting Take calls from clients in need of agency programs, ask screening/qualification questions, referring them to appropriate agencies for wrap around services & interventions with life skills staff and mental health providers to promote housing retention and community integration Maintain knowledge of all Stewpot programs and related community programs and services
Facility Supervision Expectations:
Responsible for the daily operations including, cleanliness, safety, & security of the facility to ensure the building & facilities are maintained to provide a safe & effective environment for employees, clients, volunteers, & visitors, alerting the Director to issues & concerns. Directly manage team of advocates and support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and development in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director Responsible for oversight of all shelter activities and ensure shelter coverage during the respective business hours Respond to emergent situations 24/7 Oversee routine janitorial cleaning & facility maintenance, including but not limited to, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping & sanitizing the facility bathrooms, kitchen, & rooms. Oversee disposal of all trash accumulated within the facility. Order & store cleaning & paper supplies, in a timely manner w/ approval of the director Maintain a safe, supportive trauma informed environment within the shelter. Monitor facility to maintain safety of clients and shelter space. To fulfill the responsibilities of the intake/ reception specialist in their absence Ensure that guests and staff comply with shelter routines and schedules Receive complaints and resolve issues with input and/ or guidance of the director Conduct crisis intervention, resolve grievances and troubleshoot incidents, as needed Supervise the delivery of services and assigned volunteers in one or more of the following areas within the shelter: day room, reception, laundry, bathrooms, resource room, storage, etc. Ensure that work is carried out in alignment w/ SCS principles & practices. Extend courtesy transport to Shower Power each Friday & locations, as approved Maintain the cleanliness of any Stewpot vehicle.
Data Compliance:
Participate in all shelter staff meetings and review and complete weekly reports. Communicate observations & interactions w/ clients to case managers through documentation in the Homeless Management Information System in a timely manner Must complete any assigned HMIS trainings and have access to HMIS system. Maintain CES data in HMIS to ensure compliance w/ data standards & record-keeping Make necessary corrections to information entered. Compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered. Keeps record of work completed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in Social Work, Sociology or Psychology or related field & 1 year work experience in a social service related field. If no Associates degree, 5 years work experience in a social service related field. Experience working in shelter setting Ability to main records, prepare written documents, reports, and other materials Experience working with homeless individuals is desired. Ability to connect w/ clients, while maintaining clear personal & professional boundaries. Ability to work effectively in constantly changing, demanding and often chaotic environment Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision w/ a professional & pleasant demeanor Experience working w/ a diverse population (culture, religion, sexual orientation, race & age) Possess organizational, planning, and analytical skills Ability to respond responsibly in emergency and crisis situations. Computer skills & ability to navigate Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid driver's license Must pass a criminal background check Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information Ensure quality control and compliance of data entry into HMIS Upload client documentation into HMIS, when needed and in a timely manner
