Overview Join the Integrative Behavioral Care team as a Certified Peer Support Specialist and become a vital advocate for individuals navigating mental health challenges and substance use disorders. provides recovery-oriented, person-centered support to individuals receiving outpatient behavioral health services. The CPSS uses personal lived experience with behavioral health recovery, combined with specialized training and professional peer-support skills, to assist individuals in achieving their self-identified recovery goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide peer-led support by sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope and motivation. Establishes supportive, respectful, and recovery-focused relationships with individuals receiving services. Uses personal lived experience appropriately to provide hope, encouragement, and practical recovery support. Assists individuals in identifying personal strengths, goals, interests, and recovery priorities. Encourages individuals to make informed choices and participate actively in their recovery. Provides support consistent with the individual's Individual Service Plan (ISP) and/or Recovery Support Plan. Provides face-to-face peer support activities within the CPSS's approved scope of service. Promotes independence, self-advocacy, personal responsibility, and self-determination. Helps individuals identify and develop natural supports and positive relationships within their communities. Assist clients in developing coping strategies through motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques. Conduct crisis management and intervention when clients are experiencing mental health or substance use crises, ensuring safety and stabilization. Collaborate with clinical teams to coordinate care plans while maintaining strict confidentiality of client information. Facilitate group activities, mentoring sessions, and community outreach initiatives to promote recovery and social engagement. Support clients with co-occurring disorders by integrating behavioral health and addiction counseling principles into daily interactions. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to document client progress, service delivery, and incident reports accurately. Requirements Demonstrated experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders. Strong skills in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavioral health support. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse communities, respecting individual backgrounds and experiences. Knowledge of recovery peer support principles, harm reduction strategies, and motivational interviewing techniques. Excellent client communication skills with a compassionate, active listening approach. Proven ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policies. Experience in social work, addiction counseling, or peer support advocacy is highly desirable. Documentation Completes timely, accurate, and objective documentation of peer support services. Documents services in accordance with the individual's approved service plan, agency policies, payer requirements, and applicable DMH standards. Documents the individual's participation, response to services, progress toward identified goals, and relevant interventions. Maintains confidentiality of all records and information. Completes required forms, service notes, logs, and other documentation within established agency timeframes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet the applicable Mississippi DMH requirements for a Certified Peer Support Specialist Professional. Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMust be a current DMH Certified Peer Support Specialist or be able to obtain certification within 90 days of hire Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver's License with a satisfactory driving recordReliable transportation needed to provide services in the community Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self-help (mutual support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the mental health consumers on their strengths and interests. Must have demonstrated a minimum of six (6) months, preferably twelve (12) months, in self-directed recovery. Must successfully complete the applicable DMH-recognized CPSS training and examination requirements. Must maintain the required Mississippi DMH professional credential. Must demonstrate lived experience relevant to the applicable CPSS designation and scope of service. Must demonstrate the ability to establish effective peer relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
