This position is to service Region 1 (Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg/Caroline) Region 4 (Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield) Region 5 (Newport News, Hampton Roads, Chesapeake, Suffolk, VA Beach, Portsmouth, Franklin) "Finding, Connecting, Building Success" Are you interested in working for an agency that is dedicated to providing its employees with opportunities to grow as mental health and behavioral health professionals? The MARCS Agency is a Mental and Behavioral Health Agency with specially trained mentors who are dedicated to providing high-quality, community based treatment to children, adolescents, and young adults. We are seeking compassionate and talented individuals to join our team! The MARCS Agency's Skill-based Mentoring program/Gang Intervention was developed to service court-involved youth who reside in the community of Richmond City. The MARCS Agency's Skill-based mentoring offers structured individual/group sessions and strength-based support services in the community and youth's residence.
Education:
High Diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Sciences or related field (preferred) Master's degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Sciences or related field (preferred)
Experience/Requirements:
1 to 3 years minimum working directly with youth in a community setting. Reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of:
  • client development;
  • family dysfunction factors and contributors;
  • behavioral management techniques;
  • local community resources and services; Skills and abilities in:
  • listening and communicating effectively both orally and in writing;
  • maintaining working relationships with other social services providers, coaching and training the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution to reduce recidivism.
