CORA begins outreach within a 72-hour window after the incident; identifying the area affected, reaching out to community leaders, organizing a meeting or alternative method of outreach and connection. CORA Responder coordinates the outreach effort, finalizes scheduling and, sends out invitation to appropriate parties. Helps facilitate the discussion. At the event, provides education on grief and trauma. Explains what individuals can expect while processing the event and how to connect to resources. Provides resource guides and soft transfers to mental health providers. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, develop and coordinate behavioral health and social service projects. Develop and coordinate the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for providing assigned program services; recommend, review and implement policies and procedures. Develop practical procedures necessary for the collection, scanning, filing and management of program data and/or project information; analyze the validity of program data and ensure accuracy and completeness of the data and/or project information maintained in database. Plan, develop and coordinate behavioral health and social service projects to align with the Fire Department, Police and Violence Intervention Program (VIP). Oversee and coordinate, planning, scheduling, monitoring and management of all aspects of program. Educate on the cycle of grief and the short and long-term impact of trauma. Connect families and communities to mental and behavioral health resources. Evaluate a wide range of crisis issues and supply appropriate information and referral services to resolve problems. Coordinate and oversee needs assessments to identify department and special program training needs. Coordinate external contracts and memorandum of understanding for departmental projects involving other public agencies. Participate in intra-departmental and agency task forces and work groups. Maintain contact with civic groups, social services organizations, and other professionals, make presentations to local providers and civic groups..
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain awareness of new developments in the assigned field; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, public administration, public relations, sociology, education, or related field; and Three (3) years of experience working with community programs, social services, victim assistance, law enforcement, crisis intervention or mental health support services.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. Successful completion of a security background check conducted by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Working Conditions Environmental:
Primarily be assigned to the field with occasional office reporting; exposure to computer screens.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require physical condition necessary for standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, and climbing for extended periods of time. When necessary, must be able to operate while wearing PPE, such as Body Armor, gloves, mask and protective outer clothing.
