The Housing Specialist is a hands-on, relationship-focused role supporting young adults ages 18-25 with disabilities who are transitioning from homelessness into stable housing. You'll work alongside young people—not just for them—to develop life skills, navigate the community, access resources, and build the confidence and skills needed for greater independence. Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and youth-centered approach, you'll be a consistent and supportive presence as young people work toward their goals. What You'll Do Build trusting, positive relationships with youth and provide individualized life skills coaching based on their goals and needs. Support youth in developing skills that promote independence, housing stability, and successful daily living. Connect youth to community resources, activities, classes, appointments, and opportunities. Provide transportation for important appointments, activities, and community engagement. Participate alongside youth in community activities and classes. Provide crisis intervention and support during challenging situations. Assist youth and Housing Coordinators with move-in and move-out processes. Support youth with maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming apartments while helping them develop household management skills. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming program facility. Help facilitate group life skills classes and trainings with the housing team. Monitor and communicate youth needs, concerns, progress, and feedback with Housing Coordinators and program staff. Assist with errands, supply distribution, check delivery, and retrieving items from storage. Maintain access to program supplies and resources needed by youth. Complete documentation related to youth activities, resources, and feedback. Collaborate with the team to promote consistency, communication, and safety. Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs and goals of the program. What Makes You a Great Fit We're looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, patient, flexible, and genuinely interested in helping young people succeed. You should be comfortable meeting youth where they are, building trust, setting appropriate boundaries, and supporting progress one step at a time. Minimum Qualifications Must be 25 years of age or older. High school diploma/GED plus 2 years of human services experience, OR Relevant bachelor's degree with less than 2 years of experience. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with youth from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Ability to provide support in a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and youth-friendly manner. Employment Requirements Must successfully pass comprehensive criminal, sex offender, and motor vehicle background checks. Must have a valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and maintain required automobile insurance. Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. Must be able to safely transport youth and supplies as required. Work Environment This is an active, community-based position with work occurring at the program facility, in the community, and in youth apartments. The role includes walking, standing, bending, lifting, carrying supplies, cleaning, and transporting youth. Staff may encounter a variety of environments and situations requiring crisis intervention.
