We're looking for a Youth Shelter Supervisor who wants to be part of that legacy. This is more than a supervisory job. As the Youth Shelter Supervisor, you'll be the key leader on site, supporting staff and youth while helping create a calm, positive, and structured environment. You'll bring compassion and accountability to your leadership and use every interaction as an opportunity to help young people move forward. What You'll Do- Lead the Team Provide leadership, guidance, and support to shelter staff during evening operations. Conduct shift briefings and ensure staff understand assignments, expectations, and youth needs. Coach and model effective interactions with youth using Positive Youth Development, The Nurtured Heart Approach, and Trauma-Informed Practices. Support staff growth while maintaining clear expectations and accountability. Address staff concerns and performance issues and partner with the Shelter Director on performance improvement and personnel matters. Monitor staff timekeeping and required documentation. Be There for Young People Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where youth feel supported and respected. Build positive relationships with youth while maintaining healthy professional boundaries. Monitor activities and interactions, stepping in to address conflicts or concerns when needed. Use trauma-informed approaches to de-escalate challenging situations and support youth through difficult moments. Encourage youth participation in activities and programs. Participate in collaborative decisions regarding new youth entering the shelter. Welcome new youth, assist with intake and orientation, and complete required documentation. Respond to emergencies and incidents with calm, thoughtful leadership. Keep Things Running Smoothly Ensure shelter policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations are followed. Conduct regular walkthroughs to maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment. Identify and address maintenance or security concerns. Maintain accurate records and required program documentation. Communicate with other shifts to support continuity of care. Participate in meetings, trainings, and activities that strengthen the shelter and the team. Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you're the kind of person who can lead with both heart and confidence. You know how to connect with young people, support your team, stay grounded when situations become challenging, and make thoughtful decisions when it matters most. Required High school diploma or equivalent. At least 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth in a social service, shelter, residential, or similar setting. Must be 21 years of age or older. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and maintain professional boundaries. Why A New Day?
