Community Habilitation Specialist Job Description:
Are you energetic, caring, positive, willing to share your hobbies & interests, and compassionate? As a Community Habilitation Specialist, you will support people in recreational, social, and skill-building activities within their homes to achieve their goals while encouraging independence and personal choice. Community Based Services is a non-profit organization providing supports to people in the Hudson Valley and Capital Regions since 1981. Community Habilitation Specialist -
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work mostly 1:1 with a person with developmental disabilities or autism to encourage independence as appropriate throughout daily routines and provide opportunities for people to participate in making choices as appropriate. Engage participation in recreation, social, and skill-building activities as appropriate. Complete documentation electronically as required.
Community Habilitation Specialist Qualifications/Skills:
HS/GED preferred. Valid driver's license preferred. Prior experience working with people with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred. Effective oral and written skills in English. Must work positively within a team environment and be able to work independently. Must have a personal computer device, such as smartphone, or tablet, and be able to perform required documentation on the personal device using company's software.' •Respite DSP Positions are also available, Respite cases require less duties.
