Transporter Department:
Residential Services (Permanency) Position Summary The Transporter provides support to the Residential Program by transporting youth and families for a variety of needs, including home visits, activities, court appointments, tours, and emergency situations. This role also supports permanency-related services, including visitation coordination, supervised visit support, and family engagement. When not transporting, the Transporter may assist with visit supervision, visit room preparation, or provide Youth Support Specialist coverage within the residential suites. This role supports youth safety, connection, and continuity of care through dependable transportation and engagement. Department New Directions' Residential Services programs offer supportive, trauma-informed environments for youth, focusing on safety, emotional growth, and constructive family connections. Within the Permanency program, Transporters play a key role in supporting family visitation, permanency planning efforts, and youth engagement through reliable transportation and supervision. $19.04 - $20.00 per hour (based on education and years of relevant experience)Paid Time Off:

Location Randolph, NY Professional Development Opportunities New Directions invests in developing future leaders through training, supervision, and internal advancement opportunities. Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities Transport youth to activities, home visits, and other scheduled appointments. Provide transportation to court, airports, and other designated locations. Transport youth and families to agency campuses for tours and admissions. Provide guided tours of residential and school facilities as needed. Assist with transportation for medical appointments when approved by a supervisor. Ensure agency vehicles are fueled and maintained; complete vehicle logs and work orders. Assist with tours when intake staff are unavailable. Travel (including flights) to or from NYC to supervise youth during transitions. Pick up new youth entering the program from court or designated meeting locations.Permanency-Specific Responsibilities:
Support family visitation, including scheduling, coordination, and supervision assistance. Maintain cleanliness of visit rooms, including sanitizing toys and shared spaces between visits. Assist with or support coached visitations and family engagement activities. Provide support during permanency-related events such as Family Fest, Heart Gallery, or adoption-related activities. Check in with youth and families during visitation periods, including weekends. Assist youth with tasks such as obtaining identification, documentation, or attending college-related appointments. Support youth with life books or family finding activities as needed. Provide Youth Support Specialist coverage when not transporting. Maintain required certifications, including TCI and First Aid/CPR. Report all mandated incidents to appropriate authorities. Attend all required training, in-service sessions, and supervision meetings. Perform additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively with youth, families, staff, and community partners from diverse backgrounds. Ability to respond calmly and professionally in a variety of situations. Strong communication skills across written and verbal formats. Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and collaborative. Valid NYS driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and compliance with agency driving policies. Ability to pass an annual physical for Category 3 job classification. Adherence to agency safety and health standards. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Driver's License required. Experience working with youth or families preferred.
